Removable braces
Teeth that are skew or misaligned can cause significant problems with oral health. Plaque and bacteria gather where teeth overlap and create hotspots for decay, cavities and discolouration.
Misaligned teeth also affect your bite, which could lead to problems with eating and speaking. This, in turn, could also lead to jaw tension and pain. Your teeth are also an important part of your appearance.
Orthodontics addresses these issues with the use of special devices, like braces or retainers. Removable braces, in particular, are a convenient and discreet way to straighten your teeth, while still maintaining proper oral hygiene.
What are removable braces?
Removable braces consist of two plastic plates: One cup-shaped one for the upper jaw and one arch-shaped one for the lower jaw. All our removable braces are custom-made according to your oral needs. They are placed in the mouth and worn at night, and for several hours during the day. When you eat or play sports, you may take them out and put them in a special storage container.
The benefits of removable braces
Achieving a straighter and more gorgeous smile without needing to wear uncomfortable orthodontic appliances is a win-win situation. Removable braces are beneficial for many reasons, including:
- Can be removed for eating, brushing and flossing.
- Reduces the risk of oral hygiene problems arising during treatment.
- They are easy to clean and maintain.
- Length of treatment can be shorter than with traditional braces.
- The appliance is relatively discreet.
Will removable braces work for me?
Removable braces are ideal for patients with minor orthodontic issues. Removable braces can close gaps, straighten teeth, and align your bite. However, they may not be suitable if you have more advanced orthodontic issues.
